Imagine a Turkey where every citizen has a place they can call their own. A place where they can realise their dreams, raise their families and make memories. This may sound like a lofty goal, but let’s explore the possibilities.
According to data, a staggering 88% of Americans and 79% of Brits live in single-family homes. Could a similar scenario be possible in Turkey? Let’s do some calculations. If we assume an average of three people per household and each family has a 250 square metre house with a garden, dividing our population by three gives us the number of prefabricated houses needed. If we distribute these houses over 300 square metre plots, we can see that the area required is roughly the size of Muş, a city in Turkey.
If we now consider Turkey’s total area of 769,632 square kilometres, the additional space required for such a housing initiative amounts to 8,478 square kilometres. This may seem like a large area, but in the grand scheme of things it is only a fraction of Turkey’s vast land mass.
We can fit by living in 300 square meter prefabricated houses on an area the size of Muş.
The idea of spreading our population across the country may seem far-fetched, but is it really? With careful planning and innovative solutions, it could become a reality. Imagine the sense of pride and belonging that every Turkish citizen would feel if they knew they had a place they could truly call home.
So let’s dream big and work towards a future where every citizen can call a roof over their head and a piece of land their own. Together, we can turn this vision into reality and create a brighter, more inclusive Turkey for generations to come.
